Bill Corsello: Bass and Vocals

Bill Corsello and Max Brody met in a band called Vodka Family Winstons around 1997, and continued on as a partnership after it broke up. After awhile, they recruited John Voskamp from a band called Peglegasus and started rehearsing, making bbq and drinking a lot of dirty vodka martinis. Since all of them had been in bands in the area and were in other bands they were connected enough to be able to get a gig easily. In fact, they wound up playing a few shows before they had even decided on a band name.

They had this temporary one, though, which was "BJMAX" ...In other words...BillJohnMax, right? How boring, yet awkward can you get? Needless to say, although some folks liked it, none of the band did. Confusion ensued. Lesson: decide on a name before you start playing gigs and don’t put it off like a bunch of drunks...

Anyway, presented here is footage of the first two shows they ever played. Both were performed at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, TX back in 2000, and recorded with a somewhat cheap but effective recording device. For some reason, the sound quality was better at the first gig, but the performance was better at the second. A judgement call was made to avoid repeats. But, for the record, the first four tunes are from the second show and the rest are from their first show.
